The BEST Spicy Margarita
Did the universe just give us Cinco de Mayo AND Taco Tuesday all on the same day??? So there is ONE good thing about 2020.
My usual go-to drink is wine or beer, but some occasions (ahem, Cinco de Mayo) call for a gooood cocktail. Spicy margs are my jam. The tequila, the salt, the jalapeño… it’s the perfect refreshing cocktail with a kick. And if spice isn’t your thing, guess what? Hold the jalapeños and ta-da, The Best (regular) Margarita recipe!
Ingredients:
Ice cubes
2 oz Tequila (our current fave is Corralejo Reposado)
1 oz Triple sec
Splash of orange juice or freshly squeezed orange
Splash of club soda (optional)
1/2 TB agave nectar
1/2 Jalapeño (sliced)
2 Limes
Tajin seasoning
Directions:
Grab a fun glass to make your marg in, I’m all for a good glass when it comes to cocktails. Sprinkle a generous amount of Tajin on a plate. Run a lime around the rim of your glass to moisten it and dip into the Tajin to coat the glass. Fill with ice and set aside.
Fill a tumbler half way with ice. Add your Tequila, Triple sec, splash of OJ, agave nectar (add more if you prefer sweeter), jalapeños (all depends how spicy you like it… add extra for a nice kick), and lime juice. Put the top on the tumbler and shake like CRAZY! This is key, you want to marry all those flavors up.
Strain into your prepared glass. Stir in a splash of club soda if you enjoy a little effervescence. Add a lime wedge and a couple slices of jalapeño for garnish.
