5k Run/Walk for Colton

#CommunityForColton

We are rallying around one of our OWN for our upcoming 5k Run/Walk! To know Camille George and her son, Colton, are to love them. They bring fun + energy to any room! Camille is the best Mama and advocate for her son Colton.

In Camille’s words…. “He has Spastic Quadriplegia, also referred to as spastic quad or spastic quad CP, it is a form of cerebral palsy that means the “loss of use of the whole body.” It's the most severe of the three types of spastic cerebral palsy, marked by the inability to control and use the legs, arms, and body.

Colton has endured so much more than my mama heart can explain, but you truly wouldn’t know it. Every single day he is smiling and laughing. His love is contagious. Colton taught me that communication and connection is non verbal. Energy and love can be felt without words, and he is the reason why I try to make people feel good. He taught me it is truly not what you say to people, but how people feel around you that matters. He loves people and connection. His smile invites you in. Colton is my daily reminder that it does not matter what you’ve been through in your life, you can keep going, and you are not your circumstances. Your abilities do not limit your purpose in life. He has a purpose to spread love, and to open the dialogue for inclusion in the community. It’s ok to ask questions. The more we know, the more we grow!

His second bilateral femoral osteotomy is at the end of summer. The first surgery didn’t work because he grew so quickly. He is super tall, and his insurances won’t help with purchasing new equipment because they want his current chair to last 5 years. It’s not even two years old, and he has outgrown it. Comfort through proper positioning will be critical to his healing after this next surgery because it’s such an invasive surgery. His new chair is being custom made by Bailey Built Wheelchairs who are local. We are limited to the things we can do because his current chair doesn’t offer enough support and proper positioning.”

Our goal for #CommunityForColton is to raise $5,500 to help Colton get the wheelchair he needs to live the life he deserves.
