My Current Supplement Routine
A supplement is something that completes or enhances something when added to it, and thats how I view these extra goodies in my “diet”. They are meant to enhance what I am already eating and nourishing my body with. My supplement routine is pretty straight forward and simple. I try to use products with as many clean ingredients as possible with no fillers and fake sweeteners. We don’t want to be putting any extra crap into our body do we? I enjoy trying new products and introducing them into my routine to keep things interesting, but these have been my go-to supplements! As always, do your own research on what will work for you and consult with your doctor.
Multivitamin - MegaFood Baby & Me 2 - Since i’m in the baby makin’ years, I use a prenatal as my multivitamin (also great for my hair!). I love MegaFood because they use REAL food in their vitamins, includes folate (instead of folic acid), and can be taken on an empty stomach without feeling nauseous. This brand has a whole line of vitamins beyond just the prenatal.
Fish Oil - Nordic Naturals - Fish oil is rich in Omega 3’s which support heart, brain, eye, joint and mood health. Nordic Naturals uses wild and sustainably caught fish, which we love! They provide the fish oil in triglyceride molecular form, making it easier for your body to absorb and reap the benefits. It also has a light lemon taste so no nasty “fish burps!'“
Coenzyme B-Complex - Country Life - Coenzyme B-Complex contains the 8 essential B vitamins that supports energy, immune system and metabolism.
Probiotic - New Chapter or Renew Life - Probiotics are the good bacteria that live in our gut and surprisingly enough the quality of our health greatly stems from a healthy gut. Probiotics directly help our digestive and immune health. You can also eat probiotics in the form of sauerkraut, kimchi and pickles.
Greens - *Organifi Green Juice - These greens are packed with superfoods including moringa, chlorella, spirulina, wheatgrass, and matcha. It also has mint which makes it taste refreshing, ashwagandha which is an adaptogen that regulates stress, and coconut water to help your body absorb all of this goodness.
Immunity - *Organifi Immunity - This will help kick any cold to the curb! It’s basically the healthier version of an Emergen-c packet with monk fruit as the sweetener. The other major difference is the use of Mushroom Beta Glucan (MBG) from Reishi mushrooms which reduces cold symptoms much quicker. I drink this over crushed ice and freshly squeezed lemon!
Antioxidants - *Organifi Red Juice - The “Red Juice” is packed with superfoods and antioxidants which promote anti-aging, metabolism, energy, and immune support. Even if you just want something DELISH to sip on during the day, you’'ll love the Red Juice - it tastes ah-maze-ing all while you’re doing your body some good!
Protein - Vega, Garden of Life, Orgain, Amazing Grass or Arbonne - I use only plant based protein powders with as clean ingredients as possible and no fake sweeteners. I usually make a morning protein smoothie after my run or workout.
Collagen - Vital Proteins or Thrive Brand - Collagen improves your hair, skin, nails, joint, ligaments, and tendons. I throw a scoop in my smoothies but you can add to coffee or tea as well since its virtually tasteless. I also like Vital Proteins Collagen Water.
Chia Seeds - Spectrum or Thrive Brand - Chia seeds are a nutritional powerhouse used by ancient Aztecs and Mayans. They are high in antioxidants, omega-3s and fiber. I use chia seeds in my smoothies and morning oats.
Flaxseed - Spectrum or Thrive Brand - Ground flaxseeds are similar to chia seeds as they are rich in omega-3s and fiber. I throw a scoop into my protein smoothies for added heart health and digestive support. Fun fact: You can also make a vegan “flax egg” when baking (mix 1 TB flaxseed and 2.5 TB water, let rest 5 min)
*You can shop thru my Organifi links or use “MarissaT” for 15% off your order!
**Pharmaca is also a great resource for ordering your vitamins!
***I also use a vitamin organizer to stay on track with my supplement routine.
